These instructions are for downloading podcasts from NAU's iTunes U site to your computer by using Apple's iTunes software. If you haven't already done so, install iTunes.
There are two ways to get to a specific site on iTunes U:
In many cases, the instructor or site administrator will provide you with a link or URL that takes you directly to the site. If that is the case, please skip to the next section: Downloading a Single Podcast.
You can also browse to the site, though this is a bit more complicated. Log in to NAU's private site. You can log in directly at https://deimos.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/BrowsePrivately/nau.edu, or you can click the orange Private iTunes U button at itunes.nau.edu.
Once logged in you will see the main NAU "private side" page:
Navigate to the course from which you would like to download
Browse the podcasts available, and decide which one you want to download.
To download the podcast, double-click the filename. The podcast will begin downloading, and you'll see a circular arrow icon spinning next to the Downloads icon in the left column of the iTunes window.
When the icon stops spinning, the download is complete. The podcast now appears in your iTunes library.
Downloading Multiple Podcasts
Within the section for a single course, you can select more than one podcast at a time for download.
Control-click (on a PC) or Command-click (on a Mac) to select each podcast you want.
Then, with all of the desired podcasts selected, click the Get Tracks button next to the image in the upper upper left corner of the iTunes U window.
The podcasts will begin downloading, and you'll see a circular arrow icon spinning next to the Downloads icon in the left column of the iTunes window. When the icon stops spinning, the download is complete. The podcasts now appear in your iTunes library.
Subscribing to a Podcast
To automatically receive all new podcasts for a particular course when they are made available in iTunes U, click the Subscribe button next to the image in the upper left corner of the iTunes U window.
Whenever a new podcast for that course is available, it will be downloaded automatically when you next launch iTunes U.
Unsubscribing from a Podcast
To unsubscribe from a podcast you previously subscribed to, navigate to the Podcasts section of your Library in iTunes.
Navigate to the podcast. If you need to see the particular files that you have downloaded or that are available, click the right-pointing triangle to the left of the podcast's title, which reveals all of the podcast's files.
Then, with the podcast title highlighted (click once on it if it is not still highlighted), click the Unsubscribe button.
If you ever need to resubscribe to the same podcast and it is still in your library, highlight the podcast title again, and click the Subscribe button.
