To use iTunes U you must first install iTunes software on your computer. If it is already installed go to the next tutorial called Accessing and Navigating iTunes U at NAU.
To download iTunes
- Go to www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
- NOTE: If you don’t want to receive emails from Apple, uncheck the two check boxes above the Download Now button and don't provide your email address.
- Click the Download Now button, this will start the iTunes install file downloading to either your Downloads folder or if you've chosen an alternate location for downloads, to that location.

To install iTunes
- Locate the file you downloaded. It will have a .dmg extension, which indicates that the file is a Disk Image.
- Double click the icon of the file to mount the disk image. You won't need to do this step if your browser already mounted the file for you.
- From the disk image window, double click on the iTunes.mpkg file to begin the installation.

- This will open a window called Install iTunes, where you will need to agree to the license and choose a location to install iTunes. It is best to use the default location, which should be your hard drive.

- Click the “Install” button and then wait for the entire process to finish, which might take a few minutes.

- When the installation is complete, you will be able to click the Close button in the Install iTunes window. Now you can then eject the installer and move it to the Trash and you are ready to use iTunes.
